New to Pitbulls

Post by Fast_Eddie » October 15th, 2016, 1:19 am

Hello to the membership !

I am the proud new owner of a 3 month old(( rescued )) male pit puppy! First time with a pit and looking around for advise. He was not cared for by the owner and near death being 20-25 pounds under weight according to the vet. He was 9.3 pounds when we got him (3 months old) We have had him for 1 week now and happy to say he has been making leaps and bounds in health and happiness! He has NOT been socialized with people or pets but making great progress there also! We have a 2 year old pit/lab mix female that he is now getting along with great untill it comes to playtime , the puppy goes into overdrive in snarling , growling and attacking with us and our female, is this normal for a pit?

Well I understand pits are more aggressive than most other breeds, with that said. Our new puppy '' Bruiser ''
Is very friendly and willing to learn. Potty trained in 5 days. But when it comes to playtime he turns demonic ! And wanting to tear into anything he can grab a hold of! With him being our first pit bull ever I'm just wondering is this normal behavior for a 3month old pup? We have been patiently trying to dial him down a few notches with not much luck. He has been around a few kids in the area and loves them. He has meet a few other dogs so far besides ours and does really good (but we have not let them ''play'')

(BTW: I know my around phpbb pretty well so if you ever have a question or request please feel free to hmu)

Well Bullseye when he's excited he'll pick bits of plastic up & chew them, he's always done this & still does, he's 10 (SBT) it's not aggression it's just excitment that's all...

Oh it's nice to see someone else on the forums besides me who know phpbb stuff :))

Thank you! I'm already falling for this puppy hard! He was a rescue and as his health improves he is REALLY coming out of his shell ! Weather permitting I take him for a walk every night after work. Tonight he ran so hard it snapped his leash right out of my hand! So now I think it's time to start his training :pup:
